Cochlear Nucleus 7 (CP1000) Coil Cable Replacement
$299.00 – $320.00

Overview
The Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil is a replacement coil with its cable attached, made to work with the Nucleus 7 (CP1000) sound processor. The coil is the round piece that sits on your head over the implant, held in place by a magnet, and the thin cable links it to the processor behind your ear. When either part fails, sound stops completely, so a working coil is the one part an N7 wearer cannot do without.
Below you will find the cable lengths we stock, a compatibility check, the warning signs of a failing coil, fitting steps, a troubleshooting table and care tips. We sell it as a compatible replacement part in black, checked before it leaves us, and you can message us on WhatsApp if you are unsure which length you wear today.

Will this Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil fit my processor?
| Your processor | Does it fit? | What to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Nucleus 7 (CP1000) | Yes | This coil, in the cable length you wear now |
| Nucleus 8 (CP1110) | Not listed for N8 | Message us on WhatsApp before ordering |
| Nucleus 6 (CP910 / CP920) | No | Our Nucleus 6 CP900 series coil cable |
| Nucleus 5 (CP810) | No | Our Nucleus 5 CP810 coil cable |
| Nucleus Freedom | No | Our Nucleus Freedom coil cable |
The model name is printed on the processor body and appears in the paperwork from your implant clinic. Nucleus 7 is the CP1000; if your processor shows CP1000, this is the right coil family. Nucleus 6 and Nucleus 5 coils use a separate plug-in coil cable, which is a different part with its own listing.
Users on hearing-loss forums report that Nucleus 8 coils do not fit the Nucleus 7, so borrowing an N8 coil is not a workaround. If you wear two processors, check each side separately: many bilateral wearers use different cable lengths on the left and right.
Why Nucleus 7 wearers keep a spare coil
The coil cable is the part of a Nucleus 7 that moves most: it bends every time you take the processor on and off, and it is the first thing to fail when sound starts cutting out. A spare in the drawer means a broken cable never leaves you waiting.
The processor itself usually keeps working for years, so the coil becomes the weak link. One failed cable can leave a wearer with no hearing on that side. That is why we keep the Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil in stock and why many N7 users now buy two: one to wear and one as a backup in the drawer.
Signs your Nucleus 7 coil needs replacing
A coil and its cable bend every time you take the processor off, put on a hat or adjust your glasses. The wires inside eventually give way. These are the signs users describe most often:
- Sound cuts in and out when you turn your head, smile or touch the cable.
- The processor or app says the coil is off even though it is sitting on your head.
- The cable is frayed, kinked or split near the plug or where it enters the coil.
- The coil stopped working with no visible damage at all, a very common complaint with slimline coils.
- A fresh, fully charged battery makes no difference.
- The coil keeps falling off, which can point to the magnet rather than the cable.
If two or more of these sound familiar, swap in a spare N7 coil first. If sound comes back, the old one is worn out. If nothing changes, the battery or processor may be the problem, and the troubleshooting table below helps you narrow it down.
How to fit your new Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil
- Switch the processor off and take it off your ear.
- Note the magnet strength you use now; your clinic records will show it, and it matters for comfort and hold.
- Unplug the old cable from the processor by gripping the plug itself, never by pulling the wire.
- Check whether your current magnet needs to move to the new coil and do this as your clinic showed you. If you are unsure, message us before you start.
- Push the new plug straight into the processor until it sits fully home.
- Put the processor back on your ear and place the coil over your implant; it should click into position with the magnet.
- Switch on and do a listening check in a quiet room before heading out.
Keep the box and packing for a few days. If the new coil is faulty or you were sent the wrong length, we replace or refund it within 14 days.
Troubleshooting your Nucleus 7 coil
| What you notice | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No sound after fitting | Plug not fully seated or battery flat | Re-seat the plug firmly and try a fully charged battery |
| Sound cuts out when you move your head | Loose plug or worn cable on the old coil | Check the plug; if the new coil does this, contact us |
| Coil keeps falling off | Magnet too weak or thick hair under the coil | Ask your clinic about a stronger magnet |
| Red mark or dent in the skin under the coil | Magnet too strong | Ask your clinic about a weaker magnet |
| Cable pulls tight or the coil lifts | Cable too short for your head | Try the next length up |
| Cable loops and catches on glasses | Cable too long | Try the next length down |
| Works with one battery but not another | Battery fault, not the coil | Replace the battery and test again |
If your old Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil shows several of these at once, replace it rather than repairing it. Most no-sound problems with a brand-new Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil come down to a plug that is not pushed fully in or a battery that has lost its capacity. Rule those out first before assuming the coil is faulty.
How to make your Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil last longer
- Always unplug by holding the plug, not the cable.
- Do not wrap the cable tightly around the processor when you store it.
- Take the processor off before pulling clothes over your head.
- Dry the processor and coil overnight, especially in humid weather or after exercise; our electric dryer is made for this.
- Keep the coil away from sharp folds in a bag or pocket.
- Check the cable ends once a week for cracks in the outer layer.
- Keep a spare coil so a sudden failure does not leave you without sound.
Coil cables are a wear part. The thin wire flexes every day, so most wearers replace the coil several times over the life of one processor.
Is a replacement Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil safe for my CP1000?
This is a third-party compatible part, not a product made by Cochlear. It uses the same plug, the same coil size and the same cable lengths as the part it replaces, so it connects to the CP1000 in the usual way. Every coil is checked before dispatch.
If it arrives defective, stops working early, or turns out to be the wrong item, we replace it or refund you. If you have any doubt about whether it suits your setup, message us on WhatsApp with a photo of your current coil and we will confirm before you order.
Choosing the right cable length for your Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil
The length is measured along the cable between the processor plug and the coil. The right one lets the coil sit flat over your implant without pulling and without a loose loop.
| Option | Reference | Typical reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Short (approx. 6 cm, labelled 6.5 cm) | Z597489 | Implant sits close behind the ear |
| 8 cm | Z597490 | A common middle length for adults |
| 11 cm (on request) | Z597491 | Implant sits further back on the head |
| 25 cm | P801519 | Processor worn off the ear, for example on a clip |
The simplest way to choose is to order the length you wear today. Look for the reference number on your old box or in your clinic records. If you have neither, lay your current cable flat and measure it with a soft tape from the plug to the edge of the coil, then pick the closest option. If you need 11 cm, message us on WhatsApp and we will arrange it.

Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil FAQ
Which cable length do I need for my Nucleus 7?
Order the length you wear now. Check the reference number on your old box or clinic notes: Z597489 is about 6 cm, Z597490 is 8 cm, Z597491 is 11 cm and P801519 is 25 cm.
Why does the short cable say 6.5 cm when the part number is for 6 cm?
Our options menu labels it 6.5 cm, but the reference Z597489 is the 6 cm cable. Treat it as approximately 6 cm.
Can I get the 11 cm cable?
Yes. It is not in the options menu, but you can request 11 cm or another length on WhatsApp.
Will a Nucleus 8 coil fit my Nucleus 7?
Users report that N8 coils do not fit the N7. Choose this coil for a CP1000 processor.
My coil has no visible damage but stopped working. Is it broken?
Quite possibly. The wires inside a Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil can break without any mark on the outside. Test with a charged battery; if sound only returns with a different coil, the old one has failed.
Does the coil come with a magnet?
Check the magnet strength you use now before ordering, and message us on WhatsApp if you want to confirm what is in the box for your order.
Can I buy Nucleus 7 parts here?
Yes. We stock compatible replacement coils, batteries, chargers and microphone covers for the CP1000 and dispatch within 24–48 hours.
Is it worth keeping a spare coil?
Yes. The Cochlear Nucleus 7 Slimline Coil is the part most likely to fail suddenly, and without it you hear nothing on that side. A spare means you are back to sound in a minute.
Do I need my audiologist to fit it?
Most wearers swap the coil at home in a few minutes. If the magnet needs to be moved or changed, follow your clinic’s advice.
