Overview

The Naida CI Q30 Cable is a replacement UHP headpiece cable for the Advanced Bionics Naída CI Q30 sound processor. It is the short black lead that links the processor behind your ear to the Universal Headpiece (UHP) that sits over your implant. We stock it in 9 cm, 11 cm and 26 cm lengths from the CI-5415 series, so you can match the cable you wear today.

The Q30 is one of three processors in the Naída CI Q family, next to the Q70 and the Q90. All three share the same headpiece and the same style of cable, and the cable is the part that takes the most bending and pulling every day. When it starts to fail, you hear it straight away. This page explains how to pick the right length, how to fit it, and how to tell a tired cable from a different fault.

Each Naida CI Q30 Cable we send is a third-party replacement built to the same connector and length as the cable it replaces. Choose the length you wear now. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your current cable before you order and we will confirm it. Some sellers call it a Naida Q30 cable or simply a UHP cable; it is the same part.

Will this Naida CI Q30 Cable fit my processor?

The UHP cable is shared across the Naída CI Q family, so the question is mostly about the headpiece and the length. Use this table to check before you order.

Processor and headpiece Fits? Notes
Naída CI Q30 with UHP Yes This page
Naída CI Q70 with UHP Yes, same CI-5415 cable Order from the Q70 headpiece cable page so your order matches your processor
Naída CI Q90 with UHP Yes, same CI-5415 cable Order from the Q90 headpiece cable page
Naída CI M90 or M30 (Marvel) No Marvel uses the Slim HP headpiece with its own cable
Advanced Bionics Harmony or Neptune Ask us first Send a photo on WhatsApp so we can check the connector
Cochlear Nucleus or MED-EL No Different headpiece and connectors

To identify your model, look for the name printed on the processor body: Naída CI Q30, Q70 or Q90. If the print has worn away, check the box, the warranty card or your clinic paperwork. A Marvel processor carries an M in the name, such as M90 or M30, and needs a different cable.

If you do not know your length, lay your old cable flat next to a ruler and send us a photo. We will tell you which of the three lengths matches it.

Why keep a spare Q30 headpiece cable

Your implant cannot hear anything without a working Naida CI Q30 cable. The processor picks up sound, but the cable is what carries the signal and power to the headpiece, so a broken lead means silence on that side until it is replaced.

Waiting for a clinic appointment or a postal order can take days. Many clinics now spend most of their time on the newer Marvel processors, so a Q-series cable may not be on the shelf when you call. A spare in your bag, desk drawer or travel kit turns a dead cable into a two-minute swap.

A second Naida CI Q30 Cable is also useful if you travel, work long shifts, or rely on your processor at school or in meetings where losing sound is not an option. Keep the spare in its bag, away from keys and coins, so the plugs stay clean.

Signs your Naida CI Q30 cable needs replacing

Cables rarely fail all at once. Most people notice small changes first. Watch for these signs:

  • Sound comes on and off, often when you turn your head, chew or smile
  • The processor only works when you hold the cable in a certain position
  • Frayed, cracked or flattened insulation, usually close to the plugs
  • Green or dark crust on the connector pins, a sign of moisture and corrosion
  • Your processor gives its headpiece warning even though the headpiece is in place
  • No visible damage, but sound stopped and a different cable fixes it

A cable can break inside with nothing to see on the outside. The quickest test is to swap in a cable you know works. If sound returns, the old cable was the problem. If it does not, the fault is more likely in the headpiece, the battery or the processor, and your clinic should check it.

How to fit the Naida CI Q30 Cable

  1. Turn the processor off and take the battery off.
  2. Unplug the old cable at both ends. Hold the plug, never the wire.
  3. Look into both sockets. Remove any dust and wipe away moisture with a soft, dry cloth.
  4. Line up the new plug with the processor socket and push it straight in until it is fully seated.
  5. Plug the other end into the UHP headpiece the same way.
  6. Fit a charged battery, switch on and place the headpiece over your implant.
  7. Route the cable behind your ear so it sits loose, with no pull on either end.

One end goes into the processor and the other into the headpiece. Match each end to your old cable if you are unsure. Never force a plug in at an angle, because bent pins are the most common cause of a new cable not working.

Troubleshooting your Naida CI Q30 cable

What you notice Likely cause What to do
No sound after fitting Plug not fully seated, or a flat battery Reseat both ends and fit a charged battery
Sound cuts out when you turn your head Cable too short and pulling on the headpiece Try the next length up
Headpiece keeps sliding off Cable too short, or a magnet that is too weak Check the length first; magnet strength is set by your clinic
Cable loops or catches on glasses Cable too long Try the shorter length
Crackle or static Moisture on the pins Dry the processor and cable overnight
New cable works, old one does not Old cable failed inside Keep the old one out of use and order a spare

If a brand new cable still gives no sound, message us before you send anything back. A quick video often shows a small fitting issue we can solve together.

How to make your Naida CI Q30 Cable last longer

  • Unplug by holding the plug, never by pulling the wire.
  • Do not wrap the cable tightly around the processor when you store it.
  • Take the processor off before showers, swimming or hair spray.
  • Dry the processor and cable overnight in an electric dryer for cochlear implant processors, especially in hot or humid weather.
  • Check the plugs once a week for dirt or a green tint.
  • Keep the processor in a hard case when it is not on your ear.

Even with good care, a cable is a wear item. It bends many times a day, and sweat slowly reaches the pins. Most daily wearers replace it from time to time, which is why a second cable is worth having ready.

Is a replacement UHP cable safe for my Naída CI Q30?

Yes, when it is the right part. This Naida CI Q30 cable is a third-party replacement, not a part made by Advanced Bionics. It is built to the same connector, length and specification as the cable it replaces, and we check every cable before it is dispatched.

The cable does not hold your settings. Your hearing program lives in the processor, so swapping the cable does not change how your implant is set up. If a cable arrives defective, or we sent the wrong length, we replace it or refund you.

If your hearing changes in a way that a new cable does not fix, please see your clinic. A cable cannot cure a processor or headpiece fault, and it is better to know early.

Choosing between 9 cm, 11 cm and 26 cm

Length Typical use Part number
9 cm A headpiece that sits close behind the ear, common on smaller heads CI-5415-201
11 cm A little more reach, for larger heads or a headpiece placed further back CI-5415-202
26 cm Wearing the processor off the ear, for example clipped to clothing CI-5415 series

The safest Naida CI Q30 cable to order is the length you already wear. A cable that is too short pulls the headpiece away from the implant site. A cable that is too long forms a loop that catches on glasses, hats and collars.

If your clinic recently changed how you wear your processor, ask them which length they used. All three lengths are the same price, so you can pick on fit alone.

Naida CI Q30 Cable FAQ

Is the Q30 cable the same as the Q70 and Q90 cable?

Yes. The Naída CI Q30, Q70 and Q90 all use the Universal Headpiece and the CI-5415 cable series. We list the cable separately for each processor so it is easy to find and so your order notes match your model.

Which length should I order?

Order the Naida CI Q30 cable in the length you wear now. If you do not know it, measure your old cable or send us a photo next to a ruler on WhatsApp and we will tell you.

Do I need my audiologist to change the cable?

No programming is needed. You unplug the old cable and plug in the new one. If sound does not return with a new cable, see your clinic, because the fault may be elsewhere.

My Q30 only cuts out when I turn my head. Is it the cable?

Very often, yes. Movement that bends the cable exposes a broken wire inside. It can also mean the cable is too short and pulls on the headpiece. Try a spare cable first.

Does the price change with the length?

No. Every length of the Naida CI Q30 Cable is $89.99.

Will a new cable change how my processor sounds?

No. The cable only carries the signal. Your program stays in the processor.

Can I use the 26 cm cable behind the ear?

It will connect, but the extra length forms a loop that catches easily. The long cable is meant for wearing the processor off the ear.

My cable has no visible damage. Can it still be faulty?

Yes. Wires can break inside the insulation. If a known-good cable fixes the problem, the old one has failed.

How do I know I have a Q30 and not a Marvel?

The model is printed on the processor. Marvel processors are called Naída CI M90 or M30 and use the Slim HP headpiece, which needs a different cable.
