A Naida CI battery looks similar at first glance but has a different shape and connector, so it is worth checking before you order.

Silver or black: matching your processor colour

Advanced Bionics made Harmony processors and accessories in a few finishes, including Silver Metallic, Beige and Dark Sienna. Silver Metallic was the most common Harmony finish, and it suits people with grey or light hair or anyone who prefers a neutral, technical look. If that is you, a silver battery keeps the whole unit one even colour.

• Choose Silver if your processor is Silver Metallic, or if you have grey, white or light hair.
• Choose black if your processor is Dark Sienna, or if you have dark hair that covers the processor. Choose Sand Beige if your processor is beige.
• Colour has no effect on fit, charging or performance.

Shades vary a little from batch to batch, and older processors fade with sunlight and handling. Expect a close match, not a perfect one, especially against a processor that has been worn for many years.

1. Unpack the battery and put it on your Harmony PowerCel charger until it shows full. Do this even if it arrives with some charge.
2. Take the old battery off the processor, following your user guide.
3. Look at the contacts on the base of the processor. If there is dust or moisture, wipe them with a dry, soft cloth.
4. Fit the AB Harmony Rechargeable Battery Silver to the base of the processor and press until it sits flush with no gap.

• Silver hides small marks better than beige but still shows scuffs on the edges. Wipe the casing with a dry cloth, and keep hair spray, sun cream and make-up away from it.
• Never use solvents or strong cleaners on the casing or the contacts.
• Keep batteries away from heat, including car dashboards and radiators.
• Rotate two or three batteries so each one gets regular use and rest.

Harmony and Auria names for the silver battery

Advanced Bionics sold its Harmony accessories under the Auria name, so the battery you are replacing may be labelled Auria PowerCel Plus or Auria PowerCel Slim rather than Harmony. The last digits of the part number show the colour. For the PowerCel Plus, CI-5540-100 is Silver Metallic, CI-5540-200 is Dark Sienna and CI-5540-300 is Beige.

Users rarely say any of that out loud. In forums and messages you will see the batteries called simply the “Plus” and the “SlimCel”, and PowerCel is often spelled “Powercell”. If your old battery carries any of these names and a silver casing, the AB Harmony Rechargeable Battery Silver is the matching replacement.
